Cleaning your shower is an excellent path to turning it into an oasis of relaxation. However, pushing the task off for a long time can be easy if you’re unsure where to start. Maid Bright is here to help you learn the best way to get a beautiful result you’ll love using every day.
The first step in cleaning your shower is gathering your tools. Bleach will remove all mold, mildew, and other pathogens. An oxygen-based bleach, like hydrogen peroxide, is eco-friendly and better for enclosed spaces.
Other tools you may want by your side include:
If you have tiled shower walls, tackle the grout and the tile. Make a paste with the hydrogen peroxide and washing soda, and use a toothbrush to apply it to the grout. Then, you can wipe away water deposits using a cloth wet with vinegar. Otherwise, you can skip the grout cleaning and stick to the cloth.
Acrylic, fiberglass, and porcelain are common tub materials. As a general rule, use gentle cleansers and soft clothes to treat stains, as harsher materials might scratch or damage the surface.
While working on your tub, ensure your drain is working at its best. Use a toothbrush to remove buildup and a drain snake to pull hair from the pipes.
For a deep clean, attach a plastic bag filled with water and vinegar to your showerhead. Let it soak for about an hour to loosen and remove residue. Then, wipe it down and run water for a few minutes.
Wipe down your shower curtain to keep mold, mildew, and water stains at bay. If you have one, clean your shower caddy as well.
If you have a glass door on your shower instead of a curtain, you can wipe it down with a vinegar cloth like your other walls, then squeegee it dry to prevent moisture.
